Round Five Race Report
With A grade series leader Brad Smith once again unable to compete it left day wide open for the rest of the field which provided hot action all day!! Now being deep into the race series the club has got the hang of how to run an awesome event, the qualifying rounds flew by and before long it was finals time! Qualifying showed racing incredibly tight across all three classes!
The juniors class provided some of the best entertainment of the day, Brady Anthers, Sam Waterboy Dobson and Douggie Pinner were all so close, backing a winner was almost impossible! The chicks class was another one to watch with the experienced Sheridan Smith and Kiera Preece banging bars all day! Sheridan’s corner speed shone through and she took the overall for the day!!
The A grade Riders were loving the Powranna track, it’s just getting faster and faster, with so many different lines through the rutted corners, passing opportunities are endless! Consistency was the key to success, with the top 6 riders so evenly matched on speed, crashes meant hard work for the rest of the race to get back up to pace! Gazza Wellmans straight line speed and ability to smash through the ruts gave him the overall win. Clayton Lockyer clearly loved his new 160cc pro, piloting it into second place! Hobart’s Jason Klop represented for the south taking out third place!
Once racing had wrapped up and presentation was over, it was then time to cut sick!! Brodie Cha Chin Masters came up with the elimination man on man format for the end of the day muck up race. The Idea was an all in one lap battle with the last rider across the line to be eliminated, then the remaining contenders to line up and do the same again. This format of racing made for some intense racing and some extremely desperate passes, Klop #007 and Chin #118 came together more than once with klop throwing down some very dirty block passes! Dylan Penney or PROBO was the dark horse coming through with the good in the final against Klop.
All in all another greatly successfull day for braaap club. Thanks must be given to all the flaggies, marshals and especially, Christine knee and Michelle. Also to everyone who helped with track prep and the erection of fences at the Powranna track.
Make sure your at Hobart June 28th for round six at Cambridge, your support is greatly appreciated, keep it coming!

braaap newsletter March 2009
March Newsletter
Well, well, well I can’t believe it’s March! It’s almost Easter!!!
We’ve had an awesome few months here at braaap and there are stacks of exciting things happening. Lets get into it!
We are really excited to announce that we are now recruiting franchisee’s Australia wide. If you dream of owning your own business then why not do it with the Australian Specialised Small Retial Business of the Year! No experience needed but passion is required! Check out the franchise page on wwwbraaap.com.au…
Braaap club is starting to pump. We now have 3 race meetings under our belt! The racing is a stack of fun, and we have classes for every one, all abilities and ages, even a girl’s class! A lot of our riders are new to motorsport so don’t feel like you have to be an awesome rider to come to a race day! We even have a recreation class where you can ride on the day but not race.
You can get your braaapster and Accessories on a payment plan from
$17 a week… awesome way to get into the sport! Bring in your photo ID and the rest is done over the phone!
The Hobart round of racing was awesome with plenty of water on the track in the morning to keep the dust down for when the racing started. The Hobart Track is a tight track with plenty of tabletops. It’s a little like AMA Supercross type racing plenty of bar banging action!
The Hobart riders held on to the home advantage to make sure that they took home the North V South Trophy... The tables turned when things headed north for round 2 when the Launceston riders took home the trophy! It wasn’t with out a good fight the riders from the south were rubbing number plates with the Launceston riders! The juniors were sick to watch with 4 riders gunning for the win on the last corner in Moto2... Congrats to the 2 boys who hired braaap bikes for the race and finished on the podium! It’s great to see some top level full sized Motocross racers getting into the pitbike scene.
Australia Day Trail riding and camping weekend!
We took advantage of the long weekend by camping over at Mathinna. There was about 20 braaapster’s and the weather was perfect for us to blast through the bush all weekend! It was funny to see the look on the face of the riders on full sized bikes when we would pass them going through the tight trails, and climbing the steep hill’s! Mathinna is hill-climbing country and that’s what we did, we found a massive hill and rode up and down it for hours! The hill climbs always provide the spectators with some wicked stacks and flips.. Nothing better than trail riding and camping with a heap of your mates!
The world MINI MOTO SX championship in Las Vegas is only a few weeks away! Brad Smith in the open Pro class, and Courtney Langmaid in the Amateur Class will represent team braaap. The boys can’t wait to line up next to the likes of Jeremy McGrath and stacks of other well know motorcycle heroes!
In preparation for Vegas coach Steve Jenkins has had the boys busting out Moto’s and building their skills. A Vegas replica Track is 50% complete at the Launceston club complex!
Keep your eyes on the website for more details on the boys progress on May 1st in Las Vegas!
NEW STUFF
As you guys know we are always updating the braaap bikes. We don’t wait until a new year to improve our bikes, we just do it! The newest shipment of braaapster maestro’s just arrived and they have a new exhaust pipe that goes outside the frame, leaving more room for the air filter. This also allows us to run mud flaps and stop water getting to the air filter off the back wheel. We are developing an air box to go along with it! The hubs are now 1 piece CNC alloy, the old hubs were sick but we have eliminated 4 bolts, this means less maintenance!!! More strength!!! We have lock nuts on the chain rollers, longer foot peg bolts, and a few other bolt upgrades to keep the maintance levels lower!
We are now stocking the awesome Troy Lee Designs range, Fox, One Industries and more! We are getting an even BIGGER product range for you to choose from for when you want to dress your self or someone special on, or off the track!
Just when you think that it is hard enough to choose what to wear, we throw in more! There are more brands on their way, and arriving soon!!
There is a new face in the Launceston braaap store. We welcome Clayton. J

Day before each race, check the calendar, braaap working bee’s are always the day before race day. We need people to help watering the track and stack the tyres... Its pretty cool hanging out at the track the day before race day, we usually have a few rockstar’s after we have finished. Check the website cause we are trying to arrange it so we can camp over the day before race day!
Help Is Needed
Request for people to become level 1 officials, this means you can run the track on a practise day. If braaap staff cant run the track at the moment we can’t open the track. The sooner we get level 1 officials signed up, the more often we can open the place! It free and it’s easy, it’s a multiple choice open book test. We need use of water trucks and machines to help maintain the track! 1 day before race day is all we need to brush over the track!

The race was to get to the track in time for us to walk it in day light... LOL We rolled up to the track just on dark to find the lights were on and the place was pumping... The atmosphere was awesome! The track got your heart rate pumping with some very impressive rhythme sections and Step ups! You can roll these jumps but its way faster to jump them, so we walked the track to sus out the best race lines!
